SMARTER PLAYER INTELLIGENCE FOR COLLEGE TENNIS TEAMS

135 Tennis Intelligence helps college programs prepare better, develop players faster, and make clearer decisions using evidence and a framework that makes sense.

COLLEGE TENNIS IS DECIDED BY DETAILS

Scores don’t explain how matches were won or lost. Rankings and ratings don’t show patterns of play, tactical strengths and weaknesses, or where points are truly being decided.

Understand how a player actually play

135 FRAMEWORK & PROFILING

Profiling players is not about point ending data or grouped rally lengths. It's about pattern effectiveness - how players win and how they lose.

135 ASSIST

A first for player analysis. If points are about patterns, then the ability to display the shots that lead up to the end of the point is vital for understanding player development.

135 REPORTS

Information that is meaningful at a glance. Information you can use at Monday practice after weekend matches. It's player analysis made simple.

F.A.Q.

What is the 135 Framework?

135 is simply the first three shots executed by a server in a given rally. Broadly, we measure player performance by the following metrics:

  • 135 profile (serve patterns)
  • 246 profile (return patterns)
  • 7+ profile (long rally patterns)

It’s important to note that each player is different, so profiles vary.

The other important aspect is that we talk about “win rates”. For example, when we talk about “a win rate on 1”, we mean unreturnable 1st serves compared to double faults. If your win rate on 1 is 80%, it means you serve 2 double faults for every 8 unreturnable first serves.

For more information, have a look at this article.

What is a 4 match profile?

135 profiles players using the 135 Framework, which examines the tactics and strategies that players use best, particularly when they win, and the ones in which they require work.

A 4 match profile is usually made up of 2 winning matches and 2 losing matches, all within around a month.

From the approximately 500 points recorded, we deliver a profile that examines a player’s strategy and tactics on serve (135), return (246) and long rally (7+).

More information about 135 Profiling can be found here.

What is team and individual reporting?

Team and individual reports are produced in the 135 Analyzer. They show information pertinent to the team, with comparisons from the most recent match to the previous 5 matches.

Team reporting then filters into individual reporting, which is where the specific strengths and weaknesses of a player’s game will be clearer.

135’s reporting allows coaches to see, at a glance, important information that can be used in team practice sessions. Combine that with 36 hour turn-around times and teams can be working on targeted aspects of their game at Tuesday practice after Sunday matches.

What is 135 Assist?

135 Assist is a system of shot identification and player position for every shot played by each player in a match.

To date, tennis analytics has largely been about point ending data ie winners and errors.

The 135 Framework takes that one step further by measuring player tactics and strategy.

135 Assist takes this an extra step by adding each shot in each rally. Not just each shot, 135 Assist shows forehand cross/line/inside out/inside in for example.

We use 135 Assist to demonstrate, among other things, whether a player is changing the direction of the ball too often; or that they are playing too many “defensive 3s”, because they don’t hit spots on serve.

An even simpler way to look at it is this: does it matter that your player (or their opponent) hits 10 smash winners in a match, or is it more important to know how they got to the smash ie the “assists”?

Can players see match footage and analytics in the 135 Analyzer?

Yes. When a player signs into the Analyzer they are taken directly to their own profile page. From there they can navigate to match data, video, filtering etc. A player cannot see the data or footage of any other players.

What is an Update Video?

An Update Video is no longer than 5 minutes per player. Your 135 Expert will screen record a video to guide you, the coach, in the right direction regarding their 135 Profile.

What about Doubles?

Unlimited doubles matches can be uploaded on the UNLIMITED package. Other packages allow coaches to upload doubles matches for analysis.

Note, 135 Assist will not be available for Doubles matches until the end of 2025.

Does 135 provide Live Streaming Services?

No we don’t. 135 is a player and match analysis service first and foremost, not a live streaming service that provides stats if you want them.

How can we get footage to 135?

The first, and fastest, option is to upload via an mp4 linked video file. Once the match details are loaded, uploading video footage to 135 will be complete in a matter of seconds.

The other option is to upload from a local file, or externally saved file, from your PC, Mac or other device. Upload speed will depend entirely on your connection.

We can help with all options to make the process as seamless as possible.

Can I upgrade to a higher level of service during the year?

Yes. For more information on how to do this and pricing, please get in touch.

How long has 135 been around?

135 started life as an app in 2017. Under the name “GT STATS” we further developed into so much than an app.

We changed our name to “135 Tennis Analytics” in 2020 to reflect both tennis and our 135 Framework.

Our last and final iteration is to “135 Tennis Intelligence”. For more information on our name, have a look here.

Where is 135 based?

135 is headquartered in Australia with operations in the US, Canada plus analysts and partners all over the world.
